East Gippsland Bushfires – Can you help?

17/01/2020 by Franca Smarrelli

IMPORTANT URGENT REQUEST

East Gippsland Bushfires – Can you help?

Hands on Health Australia (HOHA) will be going to East Gippsland to help the hard working and brave volunteers and workers next week from Tuesday the 21 January to Friday 24 January 2020 and, we need your help!

If you are a Physical & Mental Therapy Practitioner, are available and able to make your way to East Gippsland, you are very welcome to join us.

We will be in Bairnsdale on the 21, Buchan on the 22, Swan Reach on the 23 and Swift Creek on the 24 January.

Fill out the form with this post and email it back. We’ll get you the information for the day or days you will be available to help.

HOHA organised volunteer practitioners for the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires because therapeutic touch is of paramount importance in an emergency situation. It increases the resilience of emergency staff, treating critical acute musculoskeletal injuries as they arise, alleviating stress and post-traumatic symptoms and enabling emergency workers to cope with the incredible pressures they are working on.

Whilst the DHS do provide staff with valuable psychological and medical support, there is a distinct gap in the provision of complementary and allied health physical therapies not only for acute injury treatment and rehabilitation but to assist with enabling ongoing emotional wellbeing of emergency workers.

If you are able to get to the venues on the days above, please fill out the form and email it today.
