In partnership with Jan Jagran Vikas Sansthan, Hands-on Health Australia is currently delivering a Female Health Project focused on improving menstrual hygiene management in Southern Rajasthan, India.
This two-year pilot initiative is working with existing female Gunis (traditional healers) as local change-makers to strengthen menstrual health outcomes for women and girls. Through culturally appropriate education and the production of low-cost sanitary pads via women-led enterprise development, the project is supporting 25 villages in the Udaipur region—reaching over 11,000 women.
The project is designed to build long-term resilience by empowering women and girls with accurate menstrual health knowledge and access to sustainable solutions. By leveraging the Gunis’ existing skills and respected roles within their communities, the initiative is also fostering female leadership and driving lasting, community-led change.
