Hands-on Health Australia partners with the Fitzroy Stars and academic institutions to deliver a student-led health clinic supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Established in 2015, the program provides supervised clinical experience for students while delivering chiropractic and allied health services to players and community members in a culturally safe and community-led environment.
Guided by Elders, the initiative reflects the strong alignment between hands-on therapies and traditional Aboriginal healing practices, emphasising holistic care, connection, and respect for culture. As part of the broader Aboriginal Health in Aboriginal Hands (AHAH) program, Hands-on Health aims to expand access to complementary healthcare, create education and career pathways, and contribute to closing the gap in musculoskeletal health outcomes. With plans for mobile clinics, cultural proficiency training, and ongoing research, the program continues to grow as a sustainable, community-driven model of care.
