The New Reservoir
Community Hub

Help Us Hold the Line

For 40 years, Hands-on Health Australia has been "holding the line" for people facing disadvantage — ensuring health and wellbeing do not collapse under the weight of poverty, isolation, and hardship.

Now, we are expanding.

We are building a new central hub in Reservoir, in Melbourne's north, to meet rising need and strengthen services for the community.

Why This Matters

Disadvantage isn't just about income.

It is about health.
It is about isolation.
It is about mental and emotional wellbeing.

When health gives way, people fall below the baseline needed to sustain life in society. That tipping point is where people "fall under."

In the north of Melbourne — particularly in Darebin — the need is growing. Poverty, housing stress, food insecurity, and emerging public health concerns are placing immense pressure on already vulnerable communities.

For decades, we have been catching people before they fall. Now, we must expand to keep doing so.

The Opportunity:
A Permanent Home in Reservoir

Location

25 Edwardes Street, Reservoir

Darebin Council has made available the former police station in the heart of Reservoir — adjacent to public transport and The New Reservoir Community Hub.

This location will become:

  • Our national headquarters
  • A central Wellbeing Hub
  • A community connection space
  • A workforce training site
  • A launchpad for outreach programs

We have secured a 20-year lease with an option to buy — ensuring long-term stability for services in this region.

Our vision for the New Reservoir Community Hub

Architectural Vision

The site will undergo a staged renovation to transform it into a vibrant, welcoming health and community hub.

The vision includes:

  • Treatment rooms for allied health services
  • Community engagement areas
  • Training and supervision spaces
  • Outreach coordination base
  • Future on-site café and welcome programs

This will not just be a clinic. It will be a community anchor.

Campaign Stages

The redevelopment will occur in three stages, beginning with critical foundational investment to enable the full programme to be delivered at scale.

1
Current Priority

Open the Doors

$120,000 Cosmetic updates to enable initial operations.
$600,000 Capacity funding to resource infrastructure, campaign delivery, specialist expertise, and rollout.
2
Stage 2

Launch & Underwrite

$10 Million The New Reservoir Community Hub — full construction and fitout.
3
Stage 3

Full Expansion

$5 Million Service expansion including outreach, community engagement programs, and on-site café & welcome initiatives.

Our Immediate Priority: $600,000

Our immediate priority is securing $600,000 to underwrite Stage 2. Without this foundational investment, the broader campaign cannot be delivered at scale. Your gift today directly enables the next chapter of this work.

What This Hub Will Enable

The New Reservoir Community Hub will:

  • Expand access to free and low-cost health treatments
  • Strengthen Aboriginal wellbeing outreach
  • Deliver pop-up hubs and cultural events
  • Support public health research
  • Train the next generation of allied health professionals
  • Provide community connection and belonging

Recent impact highlights:

70,000+
Treatments delivered annually
950+
Student placements in the last 12 months
1,345+
Recipients supported with food needs in 2024

This new Hub will significantly increase our capacity to respond to growing need.
